Tin Foil Princess

I'm a bit slow on posting this. I think that my motivation went out the window while I stuffed my face with Julia's Halloween candy. You can't imagine how exhausting that is. Anyways, since we did the trick or treat on the 30th we decided we needed to celebrate on Halloween as well. So we headed to Chipotle dressed as burritos so we could get one for free. Julia of course had to be a burrito princess. She was actually watching Dora today and the episode was on jobs. Boots wanted to be a baseball player when he grows up. When Dora asked, "What do you want to be when you grow up." Without hesitation, "A PRINCESS!" I wasn't even in the room. I was in the bathroom and still heard her enthusiastic response. She also had a fortune cookie tonight and my mom (who is visiting, HOORAY!) asked her what her fortune said. Julia said, "It says that I am a princess." I think she honestly believed that those were what the words said. Where did this obsession come from?
We went with our medical school buddies that are hanging around for transitional year because every one else abandoned us, and next year they will as well. We must hang out for the short time they are still here. Here are the three trouble makers getting ready for a burrito.
Emily and Rachel, the only pic I caught of our after party. We had homemade donuts (the cheaters homemade, but that's our little secret). It was great to get together and it made us miss those that have moved far away. The four year slipped by too quickly.

Hasn't the weather been amazing!? We went on a walk and I snapped a couple of pictures.Julia's grandma sent her this for her birthday. It is the Aurora purse. She has carried it around non stop since she opened the box. Seriously, she has not put it down.
My mom and dad are here visiting and we are so happy to have them. Bryan is doing a night float month and he leaves at four in the afternoon, returns at eight in the morning, sleeps until three and then leaves at four. I see him for an hour and I wake up Julia from her nap so she can give him a hug as he is walking out the door. I am so happy that my parents came to keep me company and to spoil Julia and Audrey a little bit. Julia was so excited when they came I think she was actually shaking. We went to pick them up and their plane had been delayed a bit, so we stopped at the McDonalds by the airport to grab and ice cream while we waited. When my dad called I told Julia to finish her ice cream and then we would go and get them. She immediately told me she was finished and to throw it away because we needed to go RIGHT NOW (what child wants to throw their half eaten ice cream cone away?) Nana was bringing presents you know. We are so glad they are here!

Trick or Treat!

Oh the joys of carving a pumpkin.
Julia has been so excited for every aspect of Halloween that it has made it more exciting for Bryan and I. I must be honest, I think I get into it all as much as Julia. We had a great time digging, gutting and carving our pumpkins. We even saved the seeds and I roasted them today. Julia thinks they taste a bit like popcorn. (I use butter and worschestershire, whatever I know I spelled it wrong, yummy.)

In Ohio they do something very interesting. They have "Beggar's Night" which was today (Oct. 30) rather than on Halloween. I suppose it's so the kiddos can trick or treat in our neighborhood on Beggars night and head to Columbus on Halloween night. Double the candy. Here is the little princess ready to go.

She looked so pretty and I think some of the people gave her extra candy just because she is so cute. Oh, and also because she traveled with an extra-cute little companion...Oh, I just can't resist that little face. And she is feeling better (HOORAY!) The eye is clearing up and the smiles and giggles are coming back. I am one happy Momma.
Here we are in front of our pumpkins ready to knock on doors. Luckily, we didn't have to. Most people would sit out front in lawn chairs and pass out candy. Some wore spooky masks and Julia was VERY unsure. But most of the time she said, "trick or treat" and "thank you." She also pointed out to many that she is not Cinderella, but Aurora. Apparently the treat givers need to brush up on their princess characters.Julia and Aiden getting the job done. He is such a cute little fireman.

Craziest thing. There were huge hot air balloons camped out on the big field right by our house. They were amazing and gigantic. I tried to get Julia to pose in the pictures but the pulsing fire freaked her out. When the fire pulsed it would light up the entire balloon in yellow and orange. It made for a great effect on a sunset sky.
Here they are with the booty. Yes, Bryan joined in because we all know full well who will be eating at least half, if not 3/4, of the chocolate. Oh, Julia had such a good time. I thought holidays were so fun when I was little, but nothing beats sharing the fun and excitement with your children. It was a perfect night. Warm weather, good friends to greet and lots of candy. You certainly can't beat that.Audrey decided she likes the Skittles the best. Julia wasn't too sure that this was a good idea.


And to wish you all a Happy Halloween, Julia is singing our Halloween song. My mom used to sing this with us when we were little. In addition, she is wearing the spider hat we made. Happy Halloween!!

One Eventful Weekend

It always seems like the Halloween season brings lots of activities and this weekend was certainly filled with those. I must first post a picture of my cute girls decked out in their Halloween gear. Adam and Camille sent these adorable shirts. We love them and I received many compliments on how cute the girls looked. Thank you!

So our eventful weekend began with an adult Halloween party on Friday night. It was actually the first time Bryan and I have been on a "date" (Audrey had to come with us but at least Julia-less) in over five months. It is the funnest party and we give a big thank you to the hosts
and hosts for such a great time. We consider you some of our very closest friends and always have such a great time with you.
The Doctor is in. With such a glamorous doctor as this, I think Grey's Anatomy will be calling for an audition any day now.Especially when they see this patient! Bryan was such a great sport and we decided we ought to pay homage to his profession and get decked out in patient/doctor costumes.
Mesh underwear, booties, baby and all. I must say there was a delivery or two happening at the party and we welcomed a healthy .3 pound baby dolly from Julia's toy box. Bryan wasn't too thrilled with the red wig, but it is the one that Julia picked out and the little red bow just tied it in all together so nicely. You would want your post-delivery pictures to be taken with out your hair fixed.

We partied at Barack Obama's. It was amazing to see him in person! The Comin's are way too clever with the costumes. We also have a Wayne and a bird watcher. We had such a great time doing games, singing and eating delicious food. Thanks again!

Saturday, Bryan was on call but it was the ward trunk or treat so I dressed the girls up and took them by myself. I swear it was 120 degrees in the building and we didn't last too long because honestly how much candy do we need ( I end up eating it all!) But it was great to see our friend's little costumes and Julia was thrilled with all the other little princesses running around.

Sunday was the big primary program. I am the primary chorister and we have been working for weeks on all of their songs. The kids did SUCH a good job and I was so proud of them. Being the one Sunday that I needed Bryan, of course he was on call. And Audrey was feeling like this...But once again I had so many people willing to help (Kara I would be lost with out you and Megan you rock!) Audrey didn't scream like I was afraid she would (being sick) and Julia just sat and listened. I am always amazed at how reverent our primary is and how well they know all of the songs. They are such sweet examples of our Savior and I am so thankful I get to work with them and listen to their angelic voices each week.
After the program I was EXHAUSTED. So we took big long naps.

Today (not the weekend but we keep going) we had play group and I promised Julia we would do some fun Halloween activities. The kids made spider hats and couldn't look cuter in them. The instructions for the hats I got off Nicoles blog (thank you!).

We also made cookies (1 spice cake mix, 1 can of pumpkin and chocolate chips and viola. Easy for the kiddos to make). They had a great time and I couldn't love spending time with three little kids more than I do these three. They make my day.

Poor little sick Audrey got to wear a hat as well. We hope she gets feeling better soon. I hope everyone is having a Happy Halloween!

We just had our family pictures taken by my VERY good friend Kara Hagberg and I must say that I LOVE them. I posted a billion because I couldn't pick my favorites, I loved them all. So I hope you enjoy all of the cute pictures and THANK YOU Kara for the amazing job you did and thank you to Landon as well for being the greatest "princess" smile getter I know. We are so lucky to have such wonderful and talented friends.
