Fall Break

The girls had a long weekend for fall break so we decided to take a trip to McCall.  We have heard it is such a wonderful place to visit and we definitely were not disappointed.  I did a lot of research and found the best cabin.  It was so perfect for our family and made for such a relaxing weekend.

They had a little hammock outside that the girls played in constantly.  We all crammed in there for a family shot minus a napping Lily.
I mean, does it get any better than this!?  It was so beautiful there and so nice to be up in the mountains.
We rode some bikes.  The cabin owner provided a couple for the kids so we didn't have to bring there's.  Julia is convinced she needs a mountain bike just like this.
Poor Audrey had a hard time with the hand brakes.  They were so stiff and hard to push down for her little hands.  Needless to say she wasn't too excited to ride a bike that she couldn't stop.
This cabin was so wonderful.  Lots of relaxing, watching conference, napping and playing happened here.
The lake in McCall is beyond spectacular.
They have a little playground right on the lake for the kids to play on.  Lily was sure to find any spot of sand that she could.
It was actually really cold when we first arrived.  We were only able to stay out for a few minutes before we were frozen.  Thankfully, it warmed up every day and by the last day we hardly needed jackets.
The cabin had a fire pit and the girls loved it so much that we had hot dogs two nights while we were there.  Bryan of course grilled himself up a steak.  He's such a snob.
The s'mores were definitely the highlight.  Our verdict is s'mores with Nutella are the best hand's down.
The cabin even had a little high chair for Lily.  Seriously, this place was a find!
Bryan was the master fire starter.  It felt so good to sit outside in the crisp air with the fire blazing.
 More of the lake.

We had breakfast at the Pancake House and it was delicious.  They have so many flower surrounding the restaurant and it was decorated so fun inside.
The girls ate enormous pancakes and had lots of hot chocolate.
We headed to the state park and went hiking.  We spent the majority of our time there hiking with the jogging stroller.  The girls were SO incredibly patient and good about it.  They exceeded my expectations.  Julia walked the entire time and only complained when we went on hikes that were longer than we expected.  Even then, she just kept going.  This is NOT always the case so I felt like it was worth noting.
Bryan had to off road it with the stroller a few times.
It was just so pretty there.  The fall leaves were out and that in comparison with the pine trees made our hikes and drives so pretty.  We may have to make this a fall tradition.

This lake is so enormous that we kept finding our way back.  We are already planning a trip for the summer so the girls can get in.  They were ready to get in this trip despite the freezing cold water.  We advised them to wait until summer.
We headed down town at sunset and got the girls some donuts.
 The sunset did not disappoint.
More hiking.  We would stop every once in a while and let the girls explore a bit.  They have big imaginations.
This was such a pretty spot.  It was called Lily Marsh.  It must be extra beautiful because an extra beautiful girl is also names Lily!
Poor Lily doesn't make many of the pictures because she was always in the stroller.
This particular day we hiked a lot longer than planned and the girls were pretty done.  I stopped at this beautiful look out to wait for Bryan to go and fetch the car.  We were actually there a little longer than expected as Bryan hunted down our vehicle.  Luckily a path led down to the beach and these girls are pretty content just playing with what's around them.
This is a trip we will definitely repeat!
