A mom and her girls at home all day long and this is what you get...
Let me tell you to get them in these outfits with their hair fixed, sitting still and smiling at the same time...priceless.
We decided to whip out the pigtails. I was very hesitant because she seems so little but if you've got the hair, you do it.
Julia wore this tutu all day long even to the store. She is a princess and you don't mess with a princess's beauty routine or wardrobe.
My new best friend. The 7 dollar exersaucer I bought at a garage sale for Julia still gives me those precious moments of occupying a baby while I get stuff done. Best 7 dollars spent hands down.
Meet Aurora and her prince. I don't know why this makes me laugh so hard. Maybe it's the massive proportion differences. I keep thinking the prince is going to say, "I will CRUSH you with my giant head!" But when you're desperate for a prince you resort to the Fisher Price Father that came with the dolly house. I don't think Aurora is complaining with that hulking stud of a giant man.
And here are all the princesses snug in their castle. You see which princess got the bed. Jasmine and Snow White have to make due with the floor.
Poor Cinderella was sent to sleep in the bathtub. Not only that, but also next to the giant cat. Cinderella can never catch a break.
Ahhh, her silly play keeps a smile on my face.

Nail Biter
Is it common for a two almost three year old to already be a nail biter? Julia bites her nails down to the nub. I haven't had to whip out the nail clippers for YEARS. So we had a talk about how princesses do not bite their nails. Bryan (an avid nail biter, I wonder where she gets it from) suggested that we paint her nails. So we had a little nail painting party and painted our nails and toes a beautiful shade of brownish red. (Yes I have even caught her trying to bite her toe nails, very lady like.)
At the end of the day I checked to see if Julia had made any progress. I discovered that not only had she continued the nail biting but most of the fingernail polish was gone as well. Julia's solution: "Next time paint my nails pink." That will certainly solve the problem, thank you for the advice. It's the pink nail polish that does the trick.

Rice Cereal Here We Come
I remember the very day Julia turned four months I was so excited and gave her rice cereal that very night. I was so excited for each new milestone, and seeing her get bigger. With Audrey this has totally changed. I tried putting off rice cereal. Giving rice cereal means that she's growing up and I have learned with Julia that they grow up way too fast. I feel like it is all just slipping away too quickly and it kind of breaks my heart. But, we had three blow outs in one day and I thought rice might bind things a bit and save me a bit of laundry (too much information, I know.) So we decided it was time to admit that our little baby is growing up.
Does she like it?
I think so! It was a complete success. She LOVED it.
This is the face that completely makes my day. I now know why Julia is in her face all day. Because I am in her face all day. I just can't kiss her enough.

Do you think they look mischievious?
Um, I think so! At the tender age of nearly three, Julia's got more boyfriends than she can keep up with. It looks like I am in some trouble when she becomes a teenager! Or if she's anything like me, there will be no trouble. We had so much fun watching the football game with our good friends the Yeates. Ethan is such a good friend to Julia and we are sad to think next year they will be in Cleaveland. Buckeye season is always my favorite time of year, and these two couldn't look any cuter in their little outfits.
Speaking of game day. I am always looking for new recipe ideas and a friend of mine (thanks Kandice) had this website on her blog. It is great for getting ideas and simplifying your weekly grocery list. Well I found a recipe for BBQ cups and made them last night. Dinner was started and on the table in about twenty minutes and Bryan loved it. they would also make a GREAT game day snack for your guests. So I thought some of you out there may be a bit like me, and like a really fast and yummy dinner.
BBQ Cups
1 can refridgerator biscuits (I used the jumbo reduced fat ones, yes I know I'm healthy)
BBQ sauce
Meat (I used 2/3 lb of ground beef but this would be a great use of left over roast or chicken)
shredded cheese
Muffin tin
Open can of biscuits (this is always a SCARY task. I am always scared of the exploding can). Take biscuits and press them down in the un greased muffin tins. I pressed pretty good, so they came up over the edges a bit. Brown your meat and add approx. 1/2 cup BBQ sauce or as much/little as you want. Spoon the meat inside the biscuits. Add a little cheese on top. Bake 400 degrees for about twelve minutes and you have this...
I know it looks like a professional photographer took this picture (or not.) They look so pretty when they come out and are so yummy (despite the photo skills.) You should try them!
Also while I'm talking food. This last Saturday I made a trip to Kuhlwein's Farm Market. It is located off of Alton Darby, near Renner road (1859 Walker Road.) I don't have a garden so I try and stop by for fresh produce every so often. The tomatoes, green beans and zuchinni were the best I've ever had! I don't usually like tomatoes on salad, but I couldn't get enough. I am always a fan of supporting local farmer markets, so if you get a chance you should go. They also have pumpkin picking for a reasonable price with the hay ride. It is SO close you should take advantage (that is if you live in Ohio, otherwise disregard this message.)

VERY Motivated
As many of you know, I do not consider myself a creative person. When Julia was born, we were VERY poor and so her room was put together with garage sales and my weak creative abilities. We got a crib for 40 dollars, a dresser for 10 and for wall decorations I had to get creative (scary). I will never forget Bryan and I sprawled out on Julia's floor painting these letters and getting excited about our new little addition. Well nearly three years later and absolutely no richer we had to do something for our little Audrey as well.
The trend definitely is pink and brown now a days and so that set the paint colors for Audrey's name. I was in luck that Michaels still carries the exact same ribbon and wooden butterflies. So even though this should have been done BEFORE Audrey came, it was done four months after she came. I could have hung it out in the hall which is where she was living until now. But since she is officially sleeping in...
the crib (HOORAY!) I have found a new sense of freedom and finished her name. We had to convince Julia that this room is not only hers but that she would now be sharing. Now, I know many of you are thinking "every one has their kid's names in block letters on the wall." Though this is true, I refer you to my previous statement about my lack of creative ability and gosh darn it when I make something creative it IS getting posted on my blog.
And for your viewing pleasure, some cute girls...(I must thank the master Sarah Walton for the matching shirts. She has two girls and some of the cutest matching outfits I have ever seen.)
And the sweetest face, eyes and wildest hair you've ever seen.

A Visit to Daddy's Work
Sundays are my least favorite day for Bryan to be on call, so we always try to go and visit him at work. Julia LOVES it and it is a nice way to break up a long husband-less day. So this past Sunday we headed over to the hospital where daddy "delivers the babies." Every time Julia gets an owie she tells me that daddy needs to deliver her owie and not the babies. Not sure how that would work...
This is Julia's favorite part. We save up her pennies all week so she can throw them in the fountain. All those pennies only to be squandered in about four seconds.
Here we are eating our delicious dinner. The food there is actually pretty good. Bryan has their salad bar down to an art. The only way we could get Julia to pose in the picture was to take this one first.
She certainly wasn't going to have Audrey get all the glory.
Julia and I. You can definitely tell by this picture that I had just endured a long day at church with the girls on my own. Actually Kara had Audrey the entire time (she is the best!). She didn't even complain when Audrey started screaming the last few minutes of church.
We love visiting daddy and I am sure there will be many more visits to come.
The only time Bryan whips out the video camera is when he's torturing Julia. Julia definitely gets teased quite a bit in this house. It seems that we put the wrong baby in the baby seat. You can see which parent comes to save the day in the end.

High School Blues
Noelle Bastian had this on her blog and I thought it was funny. She answered the questions in ways that I would never expect. I think it is interesting because high school is all consuming and now nobody cares what you did or who you were in high school. You worry so much about what you are wearing, who your friends are, where you can sit, where your locker is, etc. My favorite part of going to college was the fact that I could sit at a table all by myself and no one would care. It was very liberating. Honestly, who would ever want to go back to high school? Anyways, I love finding out what people were like when I didn't know them, or finding out how people saw themselves when I did know them. Sometimes people surprise you. So thanks Noelle for a great blog idea and here I go...
Did you date someone from your school?
Oh the poor suckers who dated me. I was the worst girlfriend ever. I was a girlfriend for maybe a month or two and I am pretty sure that person regrets it deeply. I honestly didn't have a great deal of interest in a serious relationship in high school. My parents didn't encourage it and I just wasn't good at it. I did have very great guy friends that are still great friends. I did a lot more of the friend stuff than the dating stuff. I think Bryan would even agree that I wasn't a very good girlfriend.
What kind of car did you drive?
A rocking brown 1992 Explorer or "Exploder." My grandpa passed away when I was just learning to drive and he wanted me to have his car. I was a car pool for most of my high school years. My friends put a Dave Matthews Band sticker and a Refreshments sticker on the back so you could see me from a mile away. We actually brought this very car to Ohio until it's untimely death.
Were you a party animal?
Um, can any of you honestly see me as a party animal? The answer would be no. I did have some friends that went to the senior keg just to "watch the drunk people." I let them know I was VERY disappointed in their decision. Yes, I was the girl you wanted at your party.
Were you considered a flirt?
Oh, I would have to say I was painful to watch. Nope, not a flirt. I think the only reason I got married was because we were set up.
Were you in band, orchestra, or choir?
None of the above.
Were you a nerd?
I don't know if I was classified as a nerd. I think I was an inbetweener. I wasn't really a nerd but I certainly wasn't part of the cool crowd. I think being an inbetweener is my calling in life. I am really good at it. I did have a very great group of friends that I hung out with. I also liked to get good grades. So I suppose that puts me more on the nerd spectrum than the cool.
Were you on any varsity teams?
I was a varsity cheerleader my sophmore, junior and senior years. We actually took State Championship four years in a row. I was definitely not the girl that was being thrown into the air, or the cheerleader that all the boys were after. I did the throwing and yes I did have to wear the short short skirts. Good times. My advisor would be pleased to know that even after all these years I can still kick really high.
Did you ever get suspended or expelled?
All the time. Actually not so much. I did get detention once for having three tardys. That wasn't a high point for me. I had a friend that was also tardy with me, but she was excused because I was driving. She was also one of the prettiest girls in the school. I think it was discrimination, but whatever I'm not bitter.
Who were your favorite teachers?
I liked Mr. Kimball my senior AP English teacher. I really love literature and the class was challenging which I liked.
Could you still sing the fight song?
Not only sing, but do the dance as well. Our cheerleading advisor would have 6 AM practices all summer long and if we didn't have the school song memorized by the end of the summer we would not cheer. "Our school, our Evanston high school you are the one we love the best. you are the only the one and only you are the finest in the west. And may our colors of blue and scarlet all our rivals we will defend. We pledge again allegiance to you Evanston High." And even if you paid me money I would not do the dance or sing the song for you, well it would have to be a significant amount of money.
Where did you sit during lunch?
The round tables outside of the lunch room.
What was your school's full name?
Evanston High School
Did you go to Homecoming?
Yes, I think three years. I actually went six days before I turned sixteen my sophmore year. I felt so guilty and unsure that I wouldn't even stand or touch the kid the entire large group date. I don't think it was a very memorable experience for him. I went the next two years as well. I hated high school dances. There's nothing more awkward than having to bear hug dance with some sweaty high school boy you don't have no interest in and then scurrying over to your girlfriends for the fast dances knowing you look like a fool. Then your feet are killing you because you are wearing some awful shoes and pretty sure you have taco pits in the only modest dress you could find after hours of shopping.
What do you remember most about graduation?
My dad did the commencement speech and talked a bit about me which made me cry, which were probably mostly tears of joy because I was VERY ready to graduate and move on. I also had braces which made me look twelve.
Where did you go senior skip day?
I honestly don't remember. I can't even remember if I skipped. What a loser.
What was the best part of high school?
Football games. I LOVED them. I loved watching them and I actually enjoyed cheering for them. My friends would always come and we would hang out afterwords. Those were fun times.
I would have posted pictures but I am too lazy.
I think EVERYONE that reads this should participate. I would love to find out what you were like in high school.

Four Months
It's unreal to me, but Audrey is four months old. We went to her four month check up today and she is growing like a weed. She is 14 pounds and 25.5 inches long. She is 75th percentile in weight and 85th in height. I am always so glad to see that she is growing so well and is healthy. Audrey is getting to be such a mellow and sweet baby. She has such a calm temperament and laughs all the time. She rolls over from her belly to back easily and has even rolled from her back to her belly a couple of times. I am afraid I'm going to have a mover. She is starting to enjoy toys, but mostly loves to look around and lay on the ground. We have enjoyed her so much and even last night as I was getting her ready for a bath she was laughing so hard that Bryan and I were also laughing out loud. She always brings a smile to my face.
Just because I think it's interesting...this is Julia when she was four months. I honestly think that they look NOTHING alike but I get mixed reviews from others. Obviously there are some similarities, but I think there are more differences. Either way, I think they are both pretty darn cute.
This is something Audrey has really been enjoying lately. Toe jam anyone?
I have always heard that older siblings make the baby laugh more than anyone else, but I had my doubts. It seemed like Julia was really good at getting right into Audrey's face, and scaring her frequently, but just recently that has changed. When Julia talks to Audrey she gets a big smile and sometimes Julia can even make her laugh. When I was driving the other day Audrey was crying and Julia was holding her hand saying, "It's alright Audrey Jane, I'm here, It's okay." I think that they are going to be good little friends or Audrey will be driven crazy by her second mother. I'm hoping for the friends.
Here is a video of Julia making Audrey laugh and squeal. You can see the love for Audrey that Julia has. I just hope Audrey always loves her sister this much. I just love my girls, they make me laugh all the time.

Getting All Caught Up
I know you may be wondering with my daily blog posting how I could have fallen behind, but there has been much going on! First up is the official start of Buckeye Football. We were out of town for the first two games, but of course we documented the disappointing slaughter that was USC. Oh, well, we still love our Buckeyes and we must always dress for the occasion.
Love how the girls are looking at the camera.
Since mom and dad had a hat, Julia needed one as well. It only lasted for about as long as it took to take this picture. VERY short attention span, let me tell you.
Moving on...Julia attended her first birthday party. It was to her delight that it was a princess party. She was so excited and had such a great time. We actually didn't have a crown but we rigged one of Audrey's headbands to make a beautiful princess flower. It only took me ten minutes to convince her the flower is just as good as a crown.
Such a beautiful princess.
We also had our first day of preschool this week. I CANNOT believe I am old enough to have a child that is in preschool. I honestly had a difficult time sleeping the night before because I was nervous/excited for her! She goes to Miss Raquel's house and is really enjoying it.
They studied the letter B and made bugs in a jar. Julia was actually pretty good at recapping the day's events. She was quick to let me know that they had pretzels for a snack.
Audrey is getting stronger and bigger by the day. She is becoming such an easy going baby and sometimes I forget she's even there. It has been nice to have Julia go to preschool for a little bit so Audrey and I can spend a little time just the two of us.
Here's a video of Julia right before her princess party. She was being too shy to do much, but I grabbed a bit anyways and decided to post it. She has some cousins that enjoy watching videos of her since they don't get to see her very often.

Some Other Random Stuff
While visiting family we attended a funeral and the burial was at the cemetary where many of my ancestors were buried. My mom's name is Julie and her grandmother was named Julia, hence my Julia. We took a picture of Julia by her great great grandmother's grave so she would know the reason for her name. My mom tells me that everyone loved Grandma Eldredge and I am proud that Julia has such an honorable name sake.
While visiting I was also able to see one of my very best friends Whitney and her two adorable kids. Our kids match up almost perfectly, so someday when we live closer together they will have great playmates. Whitney and her family have been more like family to us and we love them so much. We also loved seeing her dad Ken-who is much more like Uncle Ken. This is Audrey and little Claire. Claire is two months older but Audrey outweighed her when she was only two months old. She is such a petite cute little thing.
Julia and Ben. Julia was a little tired at this point of the trip and I am ashamed that she wasn't in her best form, but they had a good time none the less. Julia played the guitar (which she kept calling a violin- thank you Little Einsteins) and Ben sang "My Name is Jonas" on the microphone. This game soon turned into running around with a bit of strangling with the guitar but they didn't care. There was a great deal of giggling.
Poor Bryan. We attended a bridal shower for one of my little sister's best friends and they played a game where the bride to be had to feel various men's legs to see which one was her fiance. My sister rounded up all of my brothers, Bryan included, and brought them to the shower. In order to make the game more amusing our friend brought her husband's chicken costume he uses at his car dealership. No one was willing to wear the costume but my good sport Bryan. I do believe anyone would buy a fancy car from this hot chicken. Needless to say the bride did not mistake Bryan for her future husband and thank goodness for that because he is ALL mine.

Pajama Ride and Bear River

On on occasional magical night, when I was a little girl, we would be snuggled up in our bed getting ready to fall asleep when the quiet night would be interrupted by the glorious call, "We're going on a pajama ride!" We would excitedly stumble out of bed and my mom and dad would take us on a run to McDonalds to get an ice cream cone while we were still in our nightgowns. I LOVED it and now the tradition has been carried on to the lucky grand children.
Here is Julia and Papa getting ready to ride. Papa's shirt says, "Grandpa's my name, Spoiling is my game." No words could be so true. My dad also took Julia on a special date with just the two of them. Julia specifically told me that I was not invited. He went and got her a present and took her to the park to throw rocks in the water.
Here is the pajama girl enjoying her ice cream. They make the perfect little kid size that limits the mess. Thanks for the pajama ride Nana and Papa! Hopefully the first of many.
On our adventures in Wyoming we also ventured over to Bear River State Park. This is Julia's favorite rock throwing spot and Nana also introduced her to the art of stick throwing. The best is to throw it on one side of the bridge and watch it come out on the other side.
Rock and stick throwing leads to hours of entertainment.
Audrey was also fascinated with the events.
The smile says it all.
